The image submitted is an FE-SEM micrograph of a poorly water-soluble drug, Curcumin, during its precipitation using liquid antisolvent technique. Curcumin, an active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) is found in the spice “turmeric”. The micrograph presented aptly captures the polymorphic transformation of curcumin from its amorphous to a metastable polymorph. The beautiful green corals depict the metastable polymorph of curcumin while the amorphous particles are shown as water bubbles around or on the coral particles. |
